September song

September, thank you for trying to make up for the all the grey and rainy days we had in June, July and August.

The sun shines high above
The sounds of laughter
The birds swoop down upon
The crosses of old grey churches
We say that we're in love
While secretly wishing for rain
Sipping coke and playing games
September's here again

I want to be a part of it

Whenever I visit New York, that's exactly how I feel. Like I'm plugged into something wonderful and amazing. I've managed to go once or twice a decade since I was in high school. This summer TB and I drove to New York for the first time. In my mind, it has always been a place I had to fly to - probably because I grew up in Toronto. But driving makes it a much cheaper trip and so much more accessible. We vowed to visit at least once a year from now on. I can't wait for our next trip!

Ryan & Dinah getting married

Ryan is a business associate and friend and I was absolutely thrilled when he asked me to photograph his wedding. I'm warning you now though. This is one adorable couple.

At the end of the portrait session, I decided to have a little fun with this pair. I asked Ryan to do his best Zoolander impersonation. Given that he's an actor and comedian, I knew he'd be up for it. Look out Ben Stiller!

Fabulous wind action!
The ceremony was very traditional and emotional. Although the guests couldn't see Ryan and Dinah's faces during the ceremony, I was in a perfect position to see their every smile and tear.

There was much dancing and rejoicing.

And some damn fine food.

Congratulations Ryan and Dinah! You truly deserve each other ... and I mean that in the best way possible :)

Mikael & Jordan Getting Married

The other weekend I had the extreme pleasure of photographing Jordan and Mikael's wedding. I just loved how much attention this couple paid to every detail of the wedding. The details were vintage-inspired, environmentally friendly, and many were hand-crafted by friends.

I knew that this was going to be a fun shoot as soon as I experienced the energy in the hotel room where Jordan was getting ready. There was a last-minute panty run, a wardrobe malfunction that required a bit of alcyhol to soothe the nerves, and a wonderful bond between Jordan and her bridesmaids.

May I present Jordan, Hollywood glamour bride!

Since we did the portrait session before the ceremony, we arranged a meeting place where the bride and groom saw each other for the first time. They were simply beaming.

These two really are just that into each other.

The bridal party was fabulous and up for anything as we roamed the urban streets, attracting attention everywhere we went.

The ceremony was beautiful and moving. Mikael, being a musician, played during the processional. And Jordan's reactions during the ceremony had me clicking away madly as I wanted to capture every emotion. At the end of the ceremony, Jordan and Mikael joyously danced away.

The wedding invitations, which were made from vintage postcards, were on display. The table numbers were hand-made, also fashioned from postcards. The dinner and dessert was catered by Binky of Fuschia restaurant, who infuses many of her dishes with flowers. Delectable!
And then the party really got started!
